Happy New Year To All

I guess you all heard about the earth Quake in Indiana.  What is up with that?  They had one a couple of years ago too.  We had one there in the 60’s, and I was living in the second story of an old building.  To say it was scary is putting it mildly.  I had Shannon in my arms and was down the stairs in 2 seconds flat.  I experienced another small one after Donnie and I moved to the country.  I was out working in the garden and the ground started shaking.  They are never very large ones, but they say we are in for a large one.  We are supposed to be on one of the large fault-lines.

Thursday night a bunch of us from the park, 35 to be exact, went out to a Steak House, The Red Barn, to have supper.  It could have been so much fun, but it turned out to be a disaster.   We waited an hour and a half for our food, and some of us at the same table, or our spouses would get their food, and the others wouldn’t.   It was cold, and not good at all.  Some had to wait more than 2 hours, and some walked before they got theirs.  Needless to say, we won’t be going back to that place.  They threw away a chance to make a lot of new customers, and simply didn’t take advantage of it.  Don’t feel sorry for businesses run in that way.  They had plenty of help too.  I did get a picture, but it is not the best one I have ever taken.

Friday morning, Winnie and I went to Leakey to check out the thrift shops again.  They get new stuff in all the time, so it pays to check.  Before the place was open, we stopped at a small little café and had some coffee.  It’s a nice little place and I am sure Don and I will be back to have breakfast.  The lady that owns and operates it was really a nice person, and we both are suffering from the cedar dust that is so bad right now.

After we finished our coffee, we headed on over to the thrift store and I fell in to a good bargain.  Some people were donating some things, and one of them was a bag full of movies.  I bought 9 tapes for $4.00.  Stuff we both like.  Several are about Native Americans, there is a tape about all the well-known outlaws, way back when, and lots of wildlife tapes from Reader’s Digest.  Winnie got several pairs of pants, so it was a good trip.  We also ran into Joy in town and talked for a while.

The weather down here has been stupendous.  Lows in the 50’s or high 40’s, and highs in the 60’s and 70’s.  We did have a couple of days of rain, but they need it so bad down here, so it was very welcome.

Nancy, another lady here at the park, found out I like Hidden Object games too, so she and I exchanged our computer games, now I have more of them to waste time with.  These are more like the adult version, meaning they are a little harder, and sometimes you even have to do a puzzle before finding any objects.  I love them.

Yesterday evening a bunch of us met at the club house for games and snacks.  Some of them imbibed, but I didn’t.  Donnie had a couple of beers, and a few Jell-O shots.  Only one man at our table did the Jell-O shots.  It was all in fun, and no-one got carried away.  I meant to take my wine, but forgot it.  I have had a bottle of Mogan David wine for a long time, but keep forgetting about it.  I have a couple of pictures from last night to share with you.

This was our table and we were playing Mexican Train dominoes.

The table Donnie was at were playing a game called 9-Hole Golf.

The other round table were playing various card games all evening.  We all had a great time.  Donnie stayed till 9:00 and I was there till about 10:00, when our game ended.

Today there was a meal at noon and so we went over for that, but came back right after.  Me to write this and post it, and Donnie and Rusty for naps.  I think we will watch some movies this evening and just relax.  These old people are dangerous to your health. :)  Just kidding, we have been having a ball, but do need to relax once in a while.

Welcome to my newest followers, Da Godfadda and Juanita.  I have been following their blog for years.  Although we have never met in person, I feel like we are friends.  Gordon is the reason we are Geocaching, and he taught us how in e-mails and through phone calls.  We are hoping to be able to some day at least share a meal with these wonderful people.  If you haven’t already read their blog, check it out.  It is one of the best out there.  If the link I added doesn’t work, you can also reach it from my home page.  Theirs was the first I added to my list of blogs.  Welcome aboard Dear friends..

We are moving on Monday.  I have been having so much trouble in this site with the little blue berries on the cedar tree, right outside our door.  Our outdoor carpet is completely ruined, and my carpet inside is stained too.  We had lunch with one of the ladies that works here, Pam, and she said sure we could move, so come Monday we will be in a different site.  I liked it here, but the berries have got to go.  You can sweep the outside carpet off, and 10 minutes later, it is full of them again.

Going to get off of here and stick a movie in to watch.  Hope you all have a great 2011.  Stay safe.  :)

Looks like you're having a lot of fun down there - except for the Red Barn fiasco. Doesn't sound like they'll be in business long.
