Paducah, Kentucky

We traveled on Thanksgiving day, thinking there wouldn’t be very much traffic.  There actually was a lot of trucks on the road, but the rain is what slowed us the most.  It rained on us every step of the way.  We came to Paducah to bring my little sister home.  She had been in Indy for the last few weeks to help with our brother.  Thanks again Dotty; I couldn’t have made it through this without you.

My nephew, Don, my brother’s son, has done a very nice thing for us.  He bought us a complete set of tires for our truck.  I did not want or expect anything for taking care of his Dad, but he insisted on doing this for us.  We do appreciate it, and needed to put on a new set very soon.  I am adding a picture of Don and his wife, Deana, and a picture of their 2 kids, Cassidy and Conan, all dressed up for trick or treating.

We will be hanging out here till the tires arrive, then we will have them put on.  Shortly afterwards we will be headed for Texas.  We hope to stay in the same RV Park that we stayed in in 08.  It is 30 miles out in the country and full of very nice people.  The owner, Doug and all of his workers, are just as nice as they can be.

Thanks to everyone who left a comment on my Dear Brother’s passing.  It means a lot to me and my whole family.

I see I have 4 new followers.  Susan, I couldn’t find a blog for you, but if you have one let me know and I will post it.  Next is Terria. Her site is a little different than most, but check it out.  Then there is Dear Miss Mermaid; check her out.  And last, but not least is Larry and Teddy.  I use to read their site, but lost the address for it.  Now I will be able to get caught up.  Thanks to all for following my blog.  I will try not to disappoint.

Going to get off here and get something done.  You all stay safe and I will talk to you again in a few days.  :)

Just To Let You Know

20081140703299

I lost my Dear brother on Monday.  I hope all can understand that I need some time for myself.  He was a very brave fighter, but in the end he was ready to go Home to God.  Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers.  He will be sadly missed by family, friends and his Church.

A Lot Happening

Just wanted to post a small note to let everyone know what is going on.  I had to put Uncle Boone back in the hospital on Monday.  They knew he had a lot of fluid build-up, but were also worried about pneumonia.  They decided on Tuesday that he didn’t have pneumonia, but that the fluid build-up in his lungs was severe, so they have been giving him large doses of Lasix to try to eliminate the fluids.  They also have been running other tests and have discovered that the right side of his heart is not working properly.  This perplexes the Doctors because the left side of the heart is the side that handles fluid build-up.  We, his family, and his Doctors have decided when they get him feeling better that he will go back to the Nursing Home.  Since he doesn’t live with me, and is getting somewhat confused from all the medicines he is on, I feel that is best for now.  If he can get built back up in a few weeks, then he may be able to go back to my cousin, Charlotte’s house, where he has an above average place to live.  I will just have to try to be more aware of what he is eating and what he is drinking.  This is why I haven’t been writing on the blog, and may not be able to while we have all of this going on.  Our sister, Dotty has come up from Paducah to give me a hand with some of this and she is a big help to me.

Before I close I want to welcome my newest follower, The Coast To Coast Trips.  Thanks for following my site and I will be checking yours out as soon as I can.

I will also not have time to read all the wonderful blogs that I love, and won’t be able to leave comments like I love doing.  I will get back on and get caught up as soon as I can.  Thank you all so much for your prayers.  My whole family appreciates it.

Nice Week-end

The girls, Shannon, Chelsi, and Jeannie got here late on Friday night, so we didn’t do much but watch a little TV and get our sleeping arrangements figured out.  Jeannie slept on the couch and the girls blew up my air mattress.  I bought a large one to put on the hide-a-bed.  We all know how uncomfortable they are, but the girls choose to sleep on it on the floor, and all worked out in the end.

Early yesterday morning we picked up Uncle Boone and all headed for Denny’s for breakfast.  Shannon was shocked at the change in Uncle Boone, in just the few weeks since she was here.  He now is retaining so much fluid that it is hard for him to walk, but because of his bad heart they must be careful how much Lasix he can take.  Please keep him in your prayers.  I hate seeing him suffer so, and pray for some relief for him.

We all enjoyed a great breakfast at Denny’s, then we took Uncle Boone home to lay down for a while.  Donnie also decided to come home and watch a Western while we were gallivanting around.

Our first stop was at Wal*Mart.  Shannon wanted to see if she could find an electric blanket for uncle Boone.  He gets so cold so easily.  We know it is because his blood count is so low, but we try to do everything we can to make him more comfortable.  We couldn’t find what we were looking for so, we hopped back in the truck and headed for the Greenwood Mall.

We had a ball running in and out of all the stores and of course, trying to dodge all  the people in the kiosks, out in the middle of the mall.  One of them finally snagged my daughter and granddaughter and sold them this magical line remover for their fingernails.  The kit also includes a little thing that makes your nails natural shine show.  And, oil that helps the try skin on your cuticles and hand cream that Shannon really likes.  I must admit the nails look really good when she gets through with them.

We stopped in one little place where Chelsi was trying on hats so, I got a picture of one and a picture of Aunt Shannon talking her into trying a big ole hair thingy.

We couldn’t pass up the Hollister Store, because this is her favorite place and clothes.  The stores are very alluring and they smell so good.  I kind of liked their clothes too, but not their prices.

012

It really surprised me yesterday that there was no Thanksgiving decorations.  One store, Von Muar, had a tiny little corner decorated for Thanksgiving, but the bigger majority was all Christmas.

004

I did get a picture of the girls standing in front of one of the very large Christmas trees in the Mall, but it was so busy in there yesterday, that we left before walking the whole Mall.  They have promised to come back so maybe we can make it the rest of the way around then.  The only thing they bought were some new fuzzy socks and the fingernail kit.  Grandma didn’t get hit-up  for one tiny little item.  I guess after she got her yearbook she didn’t want to push, but Grandma is a pushover, and if she would have asked, she would have gotten a new shirt or something.

006

After leaving the Mall we got stuck in a traffic jam.  That is the bad part about all the good shopping in Indy.  There are always so many people in all the stores.  So, I did what everyone does while stopped in traffic, I took pictures of Shannon and Chelsi.

Later in the evening we went back and picked up the guys then went to Skyline Chili for supper.  It is Uncle Boone’s favorite and we all enjoy it, so, it was the obvious choice.  For those of you that don’t know what that is, it is a large plate of spaghetti,  topped with chili sauce, red beans, chopped onions, and about 4” of cheese that melts all down through the dish.  It is delicious and I am sorry I didn’t get a picture, but will get one next time.

A really fun week-end was had by all, and the girls are on their way home now.  I always hate to see them go.  I am doing all the mundane things around here now.  Laundry, running the sweeper, dusting, you know, all the things you have to do to make a house a home.  Hope you all had a great week-end also.  Catch you later…  :)

P.S.   Want to welcome my newest follower, Karen.  I have been reading her site for a while now and really love her style of writing.  If you have a chance give her a look.  I think you will find it interesting too.

Also I forgot to tell you we had snow showers on Friday night… Bummer..  I don’t like that 4 letter word at all.  Stay safe..

The Yearbook

coffee
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful help with my decision about the yearbook.  I took all of your advise and talked to her parents.  They actually weren’t getting it for her just because of their financial situation right now.  This is the time of the year when all of their insurances’, Christmas and so forth hits them, so they just didn’t have the extra cash for it.  My son is now retired from the Army, but has gone right back to school, so that is also a hit on their income.  I did share with them that I would tell her I would buy it for her, but this doesn’t mean I condone what she did.  They said they have both been hoping I would talk to her, with or without the book, so all will work out in the end.  I am ashamed of what she did, but will never be ashamed of her.  I love her dearly, and nothing will ever change that.

A few weeks ago Margie was talking about business cards, or the little cards we hand out to people, that have your site on them.  I thought I would share my new ones with you.  I just had them made from Vista Print.  I have always used them, and have always been well satisfied with the results.  I got 500 for $10.00, that is for shipping and all.

Good news about Uncle Boone this morning.  His count was up at 8.6, his white count is down a little bit, and his platelets were a little lower.  The only down part of today is that he is retaining fluids again, but because of his bad heart they don’t like to give him too much Lasix.  We will wait and see what the Doctor wants to do about that.

Want to welcome my new followers sweetj56, and Jo Beth and Catherine.  I read both of these fine blogs and enjoy them immensely. Thanks for following my blog and I hope you enjoy the ride.
Going to make this another short blog and get my dusting done, sheets washed, etc., etc.,.  Stay safe and I will catch you all later.  :~)

We Forgot Our Anniversary!!

We totally forgot our Anniversary.  We were married 19 years ago, on the 25th of October.    I was busy taking my brother to his Doctor’s appointments, and so forth, and since I wasn’t giving Donnie any hints about what I wanted this year, he forgot too.  My best Buddy called me that night and wished us a Happy Anniversary or we still probably wouldn’t have remembered.  Anyway, we decided to go out and have a good lunch to celebrate.  We went to O`Charley’s again.  I just can’t get enough of their Fish and Chips and Donnie got the very large Pepper Steak sandwich.  We both had to get a to-go box for what we couldn’t eat.  They have the best fresh bread and butter to start your meal, and we both always fill up on it.  Thanks again Willie for turning us on to this great place.

My best Buddy and my son both had a birthday on the second.  I don’t think Willie would appreciate my sharing her age, but my son was 39.  It just doesn’t seem possible that I could have a baby that old.  But, I do, so I’ll just have to learn to deal with it… :)

I got a message on face book from my Grand daughter last night.  She says Mom and Dad won’t help her get a year book, and she really, really, really wants one.  So, should Grandma spring for it or not?  She has had a little trouble this year, and I don’t want her, in any way, to misconstrue my getting it for her to say that I condone what she did.  What would you do?  I love her dearly and already do more for her than I did for the boys, so I really don’t know what to do…

Both pictures are her.

We heard from Donnie’s sister yesterday, and her surgery went fine.  They don’t think that any of the cancer spread to any of her lymph nodes, so that was really good news.  She may still need to have some kind of treatment, but the Doctor’s haven’t told her what yet.  Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.  We love her a lot.

I also grabbed a couple of pictures off of face book of my Great Grandson, Mason and one of his Mom, Dad and the Spooky Dude.

I went out and took a picture of my mum cause we had ice on our windshield this morning, so I know it will be turning brown pretty soon.

006

Not much else going on.  We are still going over to the mall and walking in the mornings.  Tomorrow I will be taking Uncle Boone to get his count checked, and then we have  a lunch to go to on Friday, and the kids are coming up Friday night.

BTW, that cornbread and chili was very good last night.  Really hit the spot on a nice, cool, fall day.  Don’t know what I will fix tonight.  We may just eat our leftovers from lunch.  Catch you later… :)

Election Day!!

Ok, I admit it.  I am a political junky.  This is one of my favorite days out of this year.  I don’t care who you vote for, just get out there and vote.  We voted absentee because of being in Indy with my brother.  I come from a long line of political junkies, going way back to my Great Grand Parents.  My parents worked at the Poles, my Aunt was a district committee person, you get the idea.  I love the whole process.

It has been very cold here in the last few days, and it is only expected to get up into the 50’s this whole week.  I made a big pot of chili on Sunday, for football Sunday, so we will have leftover chili this evening with a warm pan of cornbread.

We had a big game to watch last night.  The Colts, my team, played the Houston Texans.  The Colts were playing with most of their big play, players out on the injured list, so I didn’t give us much chance to win, but they, really Peyton Manning, pulled it off and won 30 to 17.  It was a great game.

I got a call from my daughter, Shannon yesterday.  Her and my little sister, Jeannie are planning to come up this week end.  We are of course going to spend lots of time with her Uncle Boone, but she also wants to do some shopping and other things.  It will kind of be a girls week end.  She is going to try and bring my grand daughter, Chelsi too, but she is so busy all the time.  You know, you remember what it was like to be 15 and always on the go.

Thanks for all of your comments on my last blog.  I did actually complain to the company that cleaned my carpets and couch, but they told me they don’t guarantee that everything will come out.  So, I got down on my hands and knees Saturday and got all the stains out.  Since the couch dried, it does look a little bit better.  I also need to be fair and share with you that  the carpet and the couch are about 10 years old, so I guess our next big expense will be on new carpet and  couch.  They both still look pretty good though.

Gonna make this a short post and get a little something done before going for our walk.  Catch you later… :)
